Content
This ITIL® 4 module is one of the ITIL® 4 «extension modules» that complement the ITIL® 4 qualification scheme.
It provides practical guidance to help organizations effectively plan and manage the full lifecycle of all IT assets to help the organization:
- Maximize the value of its assets
- Control costs
- Manage risk
- Support decision making about the purchase, reuse, retirement, and disposal of IT assets
- Meet regulatory and contractual requirements
ITAM practices ensure good management of the IT asset lifecycle and that information about IT assets is trustworthy, accurate, complete, and available when and where it is needed.

The course content is based on the official syllabus of PeopleCert.
Methodology & didactics
The seminar requires an additional time commitment outside of class of at least 20 hours.
The course is composed of three days of interactive training consisting presentation and group exercises.
The seminar combines theory with practical examples so that candidates can apply the concepts in practice both from a strategic perspective and in day-to-day business.
The seminar demonstrates the use of the ITIL® maturity model to assess and measure the development of ITAM capabilities in the organization and identify measures for improvement ideas and emerging trends.
Please reserve evenings during the training for repetition and/or minor homework assignments. Preparation and completion of the homework will contribute significantly to exam success.
Target audience
This course is aimed at all individuals who perform and are responsible for any asset management practice tasks in an organization within IT.
Requirements
The «ITIL® 4 (and since October 21, 2024 also v3) Foundation» certification is a prerequisite for this course. If you are not yet in possession of one or other of the «Foundation» certifications, please attend the following course:
Certification
You can book the exam in English or German. The courseware is in English and the official literature is in either English or German. In general, we recommend that you take the exam in the language of the official literature. When you register for the exam, you can choose the language of the exam and the language of the eBook.
You will receive a voucher for the online exam via email from PeopleCert a few days before the course starts. The exam voucher must be redeemed directly with PeopleCert, where you can register for an available exam date. The online exam is proctored by a PeopleCert proctor, which requires a device with a microphone and camera. We recommend taking the exam on a private PC/notebook, as company notebooks are often subject to certain restrictions.

Format: 40 multiple-choice exam questions, duration: 1.5 hours, closed book
Please note that PeopleCert will not issue your certificate if the above requirements are not met.
«Take2» option:
This option allows you to retake the exam at a lower price if you do not pass. The retake exam takes place online. If required, you can book this option independently in your PeopleCert cadidate profile before booking the exam. You have up to 6 months from the date of the first exam to prepare and take the retake exam.
