Michael Mey is CEO and founder of Obvious Works, a training and consulting company at the intersection of requirements engineering, artificial intelligence, and agile product development. As a certified CPRE trainer with CPRE Advanced Level certifications in Requirements Elicitation and Requirements Modeling, he has trained more than 800 professionals in requirements engineering and software development.
As an IREB Associate Member, Michael actively contributes to IREB specialist groups, including the Special Interest Group AI. He is co-author of the AI4RE Study Guide, helping to drive the development of AI-supported requirements engineering on an international level. His commitment goes beyond technical work: Michael leads the Automation Chapter of Swiss AI, the Swiss association for the responsible use of artificial intelligence.
His foundation is built on more than 20 years of IT experience in software development and senior management at companies such as UBS, EY, STOXX, SIX, and Deutsche Börse AG. During his career, he has held a wide range of roles: developer, database specialist, business analyst, technical lead, project manager, product manager, and department head. This combination of corporate experience and startup agility allows him to combine strategic vision with practical implementation.
In addition to his work as a trainer, Michael co-founded a crypto startup, which he pitched at Google as part of the Tenity (formerly F10) incubator. He is a regular speaker at international conferences such as REConf, Scrum Day, and BA Days. He has co-authored several books and published numerous articles on AI, agile mindset, project management, and requirements engineering. He also gives guest lectures at FHNW, HSLU, and Kalaidos.
Michael holds a degree in computer science (Diplom-Informatiker FH). He studied general computer science with a focus on networks and artificial intelligence at Furtwangen University and in Prague.
