Course facts
- Understanding how Scrum works and how Scrum can be used
- Preparing for the start of your first Scrum project
- Acting as a Scrum Master for Scrum teams and stakeholders based on a sound understanding of «servant leadership»
- Improving the results of an existing Scrum project
- Answering the question of whether Scrum is suitable for your organization
Scrum is an agile and iterative approach to project and product management that helps set the right priorities, reduce project costs, and contribute to value creation more quickly.
Because Scrum is so transparent and flexible and delivers good results quickly, it has long been indispensable in many companies.
1 Scrum Basics
- What is Scrum and how has it developed?
2 Scrum Theory
- Why does Scrum work and what are its principles?
- How do they differ from more traditional approaches and how does it affect them?
3 Scrum Framwork and Meeting
- How to implement the scrum theory in practice by using timeboxes, roles, rules, and artefacts?
- How to use them most effectively and when do they not work?
4 Scrum and Change
- Scrum is different. What does this mean for my project and organization?
- How can I best implement Scrum with prospect to the expected changes?
5 Scrum and Total Cost of Ownership
- A system is not simply developed. It must also be preserved, maintained and improved. How can you measure these total operating costs (TCO) and optimize them?
6 Scrum Teams
- How do you team up?
- What team dynamics should be considered?
- What impact does this have on productivity?
7 Scrum Planning
- Project planning with costs and scheduling
8 Predictability, Risk Management and Reporting
- Scrum is empirical. How can predictions be made with Scrum, risks controlled and progress measured?
9 Scaling Scrum
- Scrum works perfectly with a single team. It also works for projects or products that involve hundreds or even thousands of team members spread all over the world. How can Scrum be best scaled up?
The training is based on interaction. Numerous flipcharts (or digital whiteboards) and other materials are created during the training. Group exercises challenge you to react quickly. This helps you understand what to do when you return to your workplace.
You will receive the course materials as a PDF after the seminar.
This course is suitable for you if you have responsibility in the field of software development. The course focuses on the role of Scrum Masters and is useful for anyone who plays a supporting role in software development teams in increasing efficiency, effectiveness, and productivity.
Even if you do not work in software development or IT, you can take the course to understand Scrum. Please note, however, that the examples are mainly based on IT scenarios.
Experience in project management or IT, especially with Scrum, is advantageous. To prepare for the seminar, download the Scrum Guide and complete the Open Assessment.
If you have no previous experience with Scrum, we recommend attending the following course beforehand:
In order to take the official Scrum.org exam after the training, we will register you with Scrum.org for the exam. During the training you will receive an email from Scrum.org asking you to create a Scrum.org account (if you do not already have one).
After successfully completing the training, you will receive another email from Scrum.org with the password for the «Professional Scrum Master™ I (PSM I)» certification. It is a multiple choice online test with 80 questions (in English) lasting 60 minutes. With a result of at least 85% you receive the certification. The price is included in the course. You can take the exam, regardless of location and time.
Since this Scrum training is an official Scrum.org Professional Scrum Training and Scrum.org lives by the principle of rapid feedback cycles and «inspect and adapt», all participants in an official Scrum.org training are given the following opportunity: If you take the Scrum certification assessment within 14 days of the end of the seminar and achieve less than 85 percent (i.e., fail the exam), you will have the opportunity to retake the exam free of charge.
With Scrum Master certification, you document your understanding of agile working with Scrum and enhance your resume.
Please note: If you consider attending the «Professional Scrum Product Owner™ (PSPO I)» course, there should be a period of about three months between the two course visits, as the content will be repeated in some cases and therefore the learning effect will be larger.
