Using examples and practical exercises, the concepts and architectures in data communication are explained and made understandable.
Topics are:
- Networks in technology: power grids, telephone networks, computer networks, etc.
- Basic knowledge of data communication: bits & bytes, etc.
- Technologies in IT systems: LAN, Ethernet, USB, Bluetooth, WiFi, Mobile, etc.
- Data communication in applications: Web, email, file transfer, telephony, video, chat, remote access, etc.
- The network of networks: The Internet and its protocols: TCP/IP.
- Concepts, architecture, topologies, of networks: The ISO/OSI model and others.
- Hardware for networks: switches, cables, modems, routers, etc.
- Software for networks: browsers, apps, tools, etc.
- Security & threats in networks: Firewalls, VPNs, data protection, etc.
For the exercises and the comprehension of examples, each participant will have their own virtual training environment with several VMs in our data centre.
Windows 10 and others are used.
The course is also an excellent introduction to technical training in computer science. Further courses are TCN, TCL, TCA.
