In this practical course, you will design and develop your own website step by step—from the initial design draft in Figma to implementation with WordPress and Elementor. Through hands-on experience with your own project, you will learn how good screen design, user experience (UX/UI), responsive layouts, and content management work together perfectly.
Upon completion, you will have the skills to professionally plan, design, and implement complete web projects.
1 UX/UI & Screen Design with Figma (2 days)
- Current trends in web design and UX/UI
- Overview of the entire workflow from concept to go-live
- Introduction to Figma: workflow, components, prototyping: from mood boards to wireframes to clickable prototypes
- Designing responsive layouts for desktop, tablet, and mobile
- Typography, colors, grid systems, and visual hierarchy
- Preparing and exporting design assets
- Microinteractions & animation in design
2 Implementation with WordPress & Elementor (3 days)
- WordPress basics: structure, themes, plugins, security
- Installation & setup: local environment or hosting
- Introduction to Elementor as a visual design tool for implementing layouts without programming knowledge
- Creating templates, headers/footers, menus, and dynamic content
- Parallax and video backgrounds, slideshows, forms, marketing widgets, etc.
- Practical exercises based on your own project
- Lots of useful tips from real-world experience
3 Fine-tuning (1 day)
- Most important plugins, performance, backups, SEO, etc.
- Optimization & responsive testing
- Best practices for UX/UI, accessibility, user-friendliness, and SEO
- Tips for creating a portfolio and taking the next step in your career

- Fine-tuning
- Learning by doing: Theoretical input is followed by live demos and practical exercises where you work on your own website project.

Info about the room equipment
Our courses take place on Windows or Apple devices. On request, we will be happy to provide you with an Apple computer in Zurich, Bern and Basel. Please let us know in advance by sending an e-mail to info@digicomp.ch. You can also bring your own laptop.
For virtual participation, we recommend the use of an additional monitor (not just a laptop) so that you can fully follow and participate in the lesson.
Adobe CC Software
The Adobe Creative Cloud software will be made available to you during the course times, whether on site in our course rooms or via remote access for virtual participation.
